Ramases, born Kimberley Barrington Frost (1 January 1934 – 2 December 1976), was a British psychedelic musician who released two cult albums in the early 1970s. Barrington Frost was, anecdotally, born sometime between 1935 and 1940 in Sheffield, UK, although the Sheffield City birth records indicate that his birth date was 1/1/1934.
Ramases: Complete Discography is truth in advertising, unfortunately. A house fire claimed demo tapes for what was to be the third album by the eccentric British singer-songwriter. Otherwise, it’s all here. The release of this six-CD box set is found treasure for the cult of Ramases, such as it is. Only a thousand physical copies are being produced of Ramases: Complete Discography, reflecting the artist’s deep obscurity. Yet this is no rote kitchen-sink project
Space Hymns is a music studio album recording by RAMASES (Prog Folk/Progressive Rock) released in 1971 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. The other single had that Jesus Come Back track, which is one of those almost-ridiculous hippy religious chants, but it is well in line with the hippy-folk of the times and the melody is nice enough to forgive that flaw. Closing on the completely psychedelic and spacey Journey On The Inside, almost a journey in Krautrock's electronica ala early Kraftwerk or Kluster. Excellent stuff, but I wouldn't have chosen it to close the album and ending it with a pataphysical consideration.

Peter Stormare, a Swedish actor best known for his roles in Fargo and The Big Lebowski, has spent the last decade working between movies to reissue the material of Ramases, a psychedelic space-rock project from the 1970s led by Barrington Frost, a British central heating salesman who believed himself to be the reincarnation of the Egyptian Pharaoh from whom he and. the band take their name. But it’s been very hard to cut and paste all the stuff together. Especially the first album, because sometimes you have bass, guitar and a voice on the same track, and it’s so hard to separate. We’ve been trying to keep it close to the original. It’s been a headache. But there’s a lot of gems. did a whole new album called The Sky Lark that they recorded on cassettes. One day when she came home had thrown away everything.
Ramases was the creation and alter-ego of Martin Raphael (sometimes known as Barrington Frost), born in Sheffield, UK. Formerly an army PT instructor, whilst involved in a central heating business in Scotland, was inspired to assume the mantle of the Egyptian Pharaoh of whom he believed himself a reincarnation, and take up a musical career.
Ramases's second album Glass Top Coffin was recorded at Phonogram Studios in 1975 in London, but Ramases was unhappy with the strings and chorus which were added post-production without his permission, and he was unhappy with the cover. The album did not sell well. Ramases and Selket left London and returned to the country of Felixstowe Ferry. A third album, to be titled Sky Lark or The Sky Lark got as far as cassette demos, but Ramases became increasingly despondent and on December 2, 1976 he took his own life
2004 reissue of 1971 album packaged in a miniature LP sleeve. Ramases is Eric Stewart, Lol Creme, Kevin Godley, Graham Gouldman & Martin Raphael. Includes 4 bonus tracks 'Balloon' (alternate mix), 'Muddy Water', 'Jesus Come Back' & 'Hello Mister'. There are many rumors and legends regarding Ramases and his wife, Sel; they were from another planet and departed Earth soon after their second album, Glass Top Coffin, was recorded; Ramases believed he was the reincarnation of the ancient Egyptian god; Ramases eventually killed himself in the 90's. With a bunch of stories like these, there was only one label crazy enough to produce this first Ramases album-Vertigo, and they did.
