Outface was a punk rock/hardcore band formed in the Cleveland, Ohio area in the mid 1980s, by Chris Hall and Charlie Garriga fronted, eventually by future Sepultura singer Derrick Green. Mark Konopka was the drummer. They recorded one demo tape in 1987, and later reunited for a studio album, Friendly Green, released 1992.

Green's father, Friendly, an electrician, and mother, Gloria, a music teacher, moved the family from inner-city Cleveland to surbuban Shaker Heights when Green was 7. "This was my first live interaction with white people," Green later recalled. From an early age, Green knew he wanted to leave the United States and he lived in Berlin for a time before moving. Green became a friend and roadie of the already formed thrash metal/hardcore band Outface which was formed in 1985. He then joined the band in 1986 at the age of 15 after the departure of their two former singers. The album was critically and commercially less successful than previous Sepultura albums, as many fans were still coming to terms with the absence of Max Cavalera from the band.

Friendly Green is the only album released by the alternative metal group Outface, most famous for being Sepultura vocalist Derrick Green's first published recording. Abel's Brother" - 4:44. A Hole In The Heart" - 4:00. Simon Verde (Derrick Green) - Vocals. Charlie Bucket (Charlie Garriga, of CIV) - Guitars, Artwork and Album Photography. David Marquee - Drums. Frank Cavanagh - Bass.

Outface recorded two demos in the period from 1987-1989 and were then offered a one-album record deal under Walter Schriefels’ record label, Crisis Records. The result is the band’s 1992 release, Friendly Green, which was named for Derrick’s father. The music is interesting and has rock, metal and ska influences. Outface toured the United States and Europe in support of the 1992 album. Charlie Garriga later joined punk rock band CIV. Derek Erdman of TheStranger.
