Bull of Heaven’s music isn’t completely uniform - there are forays into doom metal and psych-rock and sound collage and even jazz. But this five-hour excerpt from one of their most well-known experiments in interminability, a 1,453-hour release called The Chosen Priest and Apostle of Infinite Space, gives you a pretty good idea of their preferred sound, which tends to resemble the squall of noise the amps make at the end of a Sunn O))) concert, time-stretched into eternity. So it’s likely Counts was yanking everyone’s chain a little when he composed, say, a 50,000-hour piece called Like a Wall in Which an Insect Lives and Gnaws that consists of little more than fluctuating pulses of static and noise.

In ancient Mesopotamian mythology, the Bull of Heaven is a mythical beast fought by the hero Gilgamesh. The story of the Bull of Heaven has two different versions: one recorded in an earlier Sumerian poem and a later version in the standard Akkadian Epic of Gilgamesh. In the Sumerian poem, the Bull is sent to attack Gilgamesh by the goddess Inanna for reasons that are unclear.

Both key members behind Bull of Heaven started with a variety of earlier projects. Clayton Counts was also involved in Git Some, before he and Neil moved from Chicago to Denver, where Bull of Heaven was founded. Infinite Space and 210: Like a Wall in Which an Insect Lives and Gnaws specifically. On 10 July 2014, the band released 305: Hostages are Human Beings. On 12 July 2014, 303: n(k), 304: 0(2^18 5^18) and 306: It is Not a Lack of Love were released.

Day 1374 of this album is gold. This sounds exactly like a pigeon that every morning bothers at my window, I call it "paloma buchona", even if there is pouring rain or tsunami, no matter what the fuck could happen with the barometer, either a tornado or the very Apocalypse with Satan in person devastating the Earth by fire and sulphur, even so, the pigeon is there, every fucking morning

Although I have no finished listening to this album, I would like to comment on its expert use of leaping, synth-like samples and classic BOH large-room reverberations. The album illustrates presence in darkness with light breaking through to me. The title seems appropriate to me, as the texture's ricocheting sound makes the listener feel as though they are in a narrow space. It is certainly a form of ambient made to make the listener feel small and intrigued. The style of this album is very unique and provides an experience that will quite literally keep you interested for years.
