The Anecdotes is the debut album of Seamus Cater (UK/NL) and Viljam Nybacka (FN/NL), a t song duo based in Amsterdam. The anecdotes are a series of biographical song portraits of artists written by Seamus Cater. A diverse collection of 19th and 20th century figures are portrayed, including Bas Jan Ader, Eadweard Muybridge, Alexis Lapointe, Ewan MacColl, . Lowry and Sergei Prokofiev. The music of Seamus Cater and Viljam Nybacka mixes the awkwardness of revivalist British folk with contemporary songwriting and extended instrumental techniques.

Your Terrible Facade.
Seamus Cater is English, a descendant of a family of folk singers (and legacy is very much present throughout the disc, especially palpable in episodes such as Greenland Bound), looking at the tradition of his land with the perspective of contemporary musician and author. In practice, this catapults tradition against a background that distorts and flips into something unrecognizable from the original matrix. Original, experimental (hopefully, the word experimental, usually associated with physically disturbing experience, does not confuse, because there is nothing disturbing here) and able to offer glimpses of landscapes never seen.
