Out here It's cold out here And I'm alone My naked skin Droplets form Then slide off I clentch my fists Holding my teeth vice shut Scream to the wind Closing my eyes Wet with rain and What shall I do Where shall I go Its cold out here And I'm alone. We Out Here is a nine-track primer on the brightly burning London jazz scene, curated by saxophonist and rising superstar Shabaka Hutchings, who operates as bandleader for Sons of Kemet, Shabaka & the Ancestors, and the Comet is Coming. Recorded over a three-day period at the Fish Factory studio in Dollis Hill, London, the compilation is meant to bring new talent-like drummer Moses Boyd, tuba player Theon Cross, and saxophonist Nubya Garcia-to a wider audience
In fact, Freud gets top billing above Kelly on this album, only his second with the Models. There are some great songs on display here, including "Stormy Tonight," "Big on Love," "Barbados," and "King of Kings," but when the band kicks into funk mode, the sound is not unlike INXS outtakes
As this new band, they were reborn on the dance floor. Their self-reflexive mood and half-baked critiques have landed all over the record’s grooves. The society, man songs are riddled with cliche, and the love songs are a bore. Never mind that Win Butler-who once burst forth from the mix to holler from his heart, singing hallelujah-now just intones his words in this dry, accusatory tone. Never mind that he asks you if you want to get messed up, preaches at the pulpit about boys and girls who hate themselves, and then just raps all seven days of the week at one point. But here in the claustrophobic space of Everything Now, the warts of Arcade Fire are impossible to miss.
