A single, ’Can you forgive her?’, was released on June 1, 1993. The song, which takes its title from a novel by Anthony Trollope, is a sort of a short story. It starts with a man being awake in the night, and he can’t get to sleep because he’s been made a fool of by his girlfriend, who thinks he’s not masculine enough. In the first verse he’s embarrassed and annoyed at his girlfriend  . r listening: 1988-1989 (2018 remaster). Elysium/Further listening: 2011-2012 (2017 remaster). Lyrics to "Can You Forgive Her?" song by Pet Shop Boys: Another night with open eyes Too late to sleep, too soon to rise You're short of breath, is it a he. .So ask yourself now: Can you forgive her If she wants you to? Ask yourself: Can you even deliver What she demands of you? You drift into the strangest dreams Of youthful follies and changing teams Admit you're wrong, oh, no, not yet Then you wake up and remember that you can't forget. She's made you some kind of laughing stock Because you dance to disco, and you don't like rock She'd make fun of you, and even in bed Said she was gonna go and get herself a real man instead  . Pet Shop Boys Lyrics. album: "Very" (1993).

Very is the fifth studio album by English synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys. It was released on 27 September 1993 by Parlophone, nearly three years after the duo's previous studio album, Behaviour, and following the compilation album Discography: The Complete Singles Collection. Very exhibits one of many turning points the Pet Shop Boys would make to their music, shifting from the subdued electronic pop of Behaviour to richly instrumented dance arrangements.

Alternative is a compilation album by English synthpop duo Pet Shop Boys. It was first released in 1995. The title Alternative was a last-minute change from the title that had been long saved for such an album, Besides, but that title was taken by American rock band Sugar, who released their own B-sides compilation two months prior.

Little surprise in retrospective that the first single from the Pet Shop Boys' most upbeat album of them all, Very, was particularly splashy and fun, at least sonically speaking. Running in 6/8 time isn't always the usual step for a pop single to take, but that's what Chris Lowe did with the music here, punctuating the rhythms with everything from his expected layers of electronic synth flow to swirling, dramatic orchestral stabs that redefine what can be done with that particular dance music standby. Tennant may deliver the key line "You're in love" with a deliciously rich cockney drawl, but there are plenty of winners that stand on their own merits - "She's made you some kind of laughing stock/Because you dance to disco and you don't like rock" and "Remember when you were easily led/Behind the cricket pavilion and the bicycle shed.

When I first heard the title of the song 'Can You Forgive Her' by the Pet Shop Boys, my mind immediately went to the novel penned by Anthony Trollope of the same name. I would not be surprising for the Pet Shop Boys to incorporate such a theme or image into their songs - one of the things the PSB have been noted for was the intelligence in their lyrics. The CD has five tracks of remixes of the title song, 'Can You Forgive Her', plus a remix of the track 'I Want To Wake Up' from the Actually album of 1987.

Fun club mixes of the Pet Shop Boys' CAN YOU FORGIVE HER?, another story of forbidden love and social stigma. But with a disco beat! Rollo makes great use of the "dance to disco" vocal sample in the original in two groovy (though essentially identical) mixes. MK keeps things rolling with a smooth and cool synth line before leading into his (at the time) unique cut-up-and-rearranged sampling. The dub focuses on more on the word "pain" (and, oddly, "bicycle") but has some lovely organ chords to keep the house kicking. Johnny Marr, better known as a guitarist, does an okay job at mixing, but his version of "I Want to Wake Up" is not quite ready for the clubs, I'm afraid...
